Sadly, many mainline churches are struggling to keep their buildings open. They often have aging congregations with limited capacity to maintain, much less grow the church.
The demographics are not looking good. Many churches now have the majority of members over 55. Over 65 and sometimes 75 years old. Time is running out.
It’s the perfect storm of calamity heading our way. Some have called this a TSUNAMI of closings.
When we see the BIG WAVE coming to swamp us. There are two possible responses:
1) run for the sand bags and batten down the hatches. Hope the flood passes by without destroying everything we have built up over the years.
2) run for your surfboard and get ready to ride the most amazing wave imaginable. The same power that can destroy has the power to propel you farther than you have ever been.
The wave is coming. Face it. That’s a given.
You can’t change it or outrun it. Or hope it just goes away.
Your choice is to decide whether it’s SANDBAGS or SURFBOARDS!
PS: I choose surfing.
